Imphal: Manipur Police arrested Longjam Achouba following an alleged attack on Art, Culture and Tourism Minister Khuraijam Loken. The arrest happened in Wangoi on Sunday. An aide filed a formal complaint at the Wangoi police station after a mob reportedly pelted the minister’s convoy with stones. The suspect is a resident of Wangoi Longjam Leikai.

Loken, the representative for the Wangoi Assembly constituency, was inspecting road and drainage projects around 10:30 am. A group blocked his path. They protested against alleged failures at the Wangoi Community Health Centre. Security personnel swarmed the vehicle to shield the minister. No one got hurt.

The National People’s Party Manipur unit condemned the violence. They called the clash a clear instance of political intolerance. The party stated, "violence and intimidation had no place in a democratic society" and demanded that locals settle their grievances through peaceful talk instead.
