Agartala: Tripura Police arrested Bimal Chakma on October 29 for alleged arms trafficking. Officers seized 200 bullets from the suspect near the Maharani police station in the Gomati district of Udaipur. The arrest occurred this past Thursday.

Chakma is the son of Bhubanta Chakma. He lives in Shantitila, Dudukchhara, located in the Panchhari area of Khagrachhari, Bangladesh. Authorities claim he works for the Santu faction of the Jana Samhati Samiti. Police sources say he acts as an operative for Pratyuttar Chakma and Samajpriya Chakma.

These two leaders report to Jyotisman Chakma. Known as Bulbul, he serves as the deputy field commander of the Jumma Liberation Army. He is the grandson of JSS leader Santu Larma. Investigators are now working to verify these organizational links.

Police have not disclosed where the ammunition originated. They also do not know the intended destination. The investigation continues as officials look for other members of the trafficking network. Authorities stated, "Further details, including the source of the bullets and their intended destination, are awaited."
