Agartala: Tripura Police officers arrested three Bangladeshi women and one Indian man at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport in Agartala. The group moved suspiciously through the terminal. Officers detained the four after they failed to show valid entry documents. They were heading to Guwahati.
The man, Mazarul Islam, lives in the Jatrapur area of Sepahijala district. Authorities identified the three women as residents of Khulna, Bangladesh. Preliminary questioning indicates the women snuck into India through the Sonamura border. They claimed they were looking for work. Police are now digging into how they crossed the border and who helped them.
Islam appeared in court on Friday. Investigators asked for five days of remand. Police registered a formal case as the inquiry widens to track potential trafficking networks. A police official stated, "The investigation is underway to determine how the alleged illegal entry was facilitated and whether other individuals were involved in the suspected network."
