Five New Members Tapped for Tripura District Council Executive Roles

Agartala: Five Members of the District Council are set to join the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council executive body. Sources indicate the oath-taking ceremony will happen on November 5. The new recruits include Kamal Koloi, Rajeshwar Debbarma, Dhananjoy Tripura, Hollywood Chakma, and Khenaram Reang.

The council currently faces a heavy administrative burden. Only one executive member, Chandra Kanta Jamatia, oversees multiple departments including Tourism, Education, Social Welfare, and Kokborok and Other Indigenous Languages. Chief Executive Member Runiel Debbarma handles all remaining departments alone.

The expansion aims to shift the current departmental responsibilities. While the names are set, formal details remain pending. "The five MDCs expected to join the council's executive body are Kamal Koloi, Rajeshwar Debbarma, Dhananjoy Tripura, Hollywood Chakma and Khenaram Reang," according to sources. Officials have yet to officially confirm the November 5 date for the swearing-in event.
