Agartala: North Tripura District Hospital is getting a facelift. District Magistrate Chandni Chandran outlined a modernization plan to turn the site into a patient-friendly institution during a press conference at the Trauma Centre. Officials want better infrastructure and expanded services for the district.
The hospital opened a new Critical Care Unit on August 5. The first patient treated there already recovered and went home. The facility provides emergency care around the clock every day of the year. "This is a milestone for our hospital. The CCU will ensure that critical patients receive immediate, specialised care without delay," Chandran said.
Management will start charging nominal fees for X-rays and ECGs. However, BPL families, Antyodaya beneficiaries, and other government-supported groups get these services for free. Chandran wants to balance costs without shutting out those with tight budgets. She stated, "Our aim is to balance sustainability with inclusivity. No one will be denied treatment because of financial constraints."
Cleanliness remains a top priority. The administration asked the community to help keep the hospital hygienic. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Dipak Haldar and Medical Superintendent Dr. Bhaskar Das joined the announcement. They are planning further technology upgrades and building improvements to make the hospital a model for the state.
