Guwahati: Drug traffickers are turning the Dima Hasao district into a smuggling corridor. Sub-inspector Nabajit Das paid the ultimate price on August 14. He died in the line of duty at Laisong. The incident hit the state hard.

Former Cabinet Minister Nandita Gorlosa spoke out on Wednesday. She connected the officer's death directly to the rising illicit trade. Traffickers allegedly move goods through the region toward Tamenglong via Mahur. These remote paths shield their movements. It puts officers at extreme risk.

Gorlosa expressed her frustration regarding the impact on local youth. She stated, "A dedicated officer, Nabajit Das from Udalguri district, lost his life in the line of duty. The incident, which occurred on August 14 in Laisong, raises serious concerns about drug peddling. It has become evident that Dima Hasao district serves as a transit route for drug peddlers, with tragic consequences. Our teenagers are the victims in this scenario."

The Congress leader demanded strict punishment for anyone caught in the trade. She wants the public to keep a watchful eye on rural territories. She honored Das for his sacrifice. Local communities must remain alert to prevent further loss.
