Guwahati: Tezpur University suspended assistant professor Antara Dey after two research scholars accused her of forcing them to draft a B.Ed examination paper. The professor works in the Department of Education. She allegedly ordered the scholars to build the exam questions and send them over WhatsApp.
The B.Ed exam was slated for June 6. After the scholars complained, the university swapped the paper to keep the testing process clean. The test went ahead on schedule. The scholars did not keep quiet. They brought their evidence, including photographs and WhatsApp screenshots, directly to university administrators.
The students also alerted the University Grants Commission about the breach. The commission demanded answers. Tezpur University Registrar filed an official FIR at the Borghat Police Outpost following the pressure. Officials registered case number 320/26 at the Tezpur Sadar Police Station on June 9. The university suspended Dey immediately.
Police are keeping the investigation quiet. They have not released any updates on the current status of the probe. Sources confirmed that authorities sent the submitted evidence for forensic examination to verify the claims. One source noted, "The question paper for the B.Ed examination held on June 6 was prepared under the supervision of Antara Dey."
