Guwahati: Assam district authorities sealed the Ishwaatul Uloom Madrasatul Banat in Bongaigaon this week. The move followed a wave of violent protests at the Malegarh facility located in Jogighopa. Residents turned on the institution after accusations surfaced that a teacher, Aminul Islam, sexually abused a girl student.

Police moved in to control the chaos. Superintendent of Police Numal Mahatta and an Executive Magistrate arrived on the scene to restore order. Parents soon collected their children. All 148 minor girls returned home to their families.

The administration launched a probe into the private school. Officials found the institution operated in clear violation of state rules. "The administration has sealed the institution until further orders," authorities stated while noting the inquiry remains active. Investigators have yet to detail the specific regulatory breaches found on the site.
