Manipur Government Reassigns Nine Top Officials

Imphal: Manipur authorities ordered a massive shakeup of nine IAS officers on Tuesday. Chief Secretary notifications confirmed the transfers take effect immediately. These changes serve the public interest and remain in force until further orders.

Mohan Lal Meena takes on the additional role of Commissioner for the Public Works Department while keeping his work for the Manipur Lok Ayukta and the Commission of Inquiry into the Manipur Violence. N Ashok Kumar drops his roles in Home, Relief and Disaster Management to move into Finance and Home. He keeps his seat as Resident Commissioner at Manipur Bhawan and picks up duties as Commissioner to the Chief Minister.

Hungyo Worshang leaves Tourism to run Public Health Engineering but holds onto his excise duties. Neeta Arambam moves from the Manipur Public Service Commission to lead Information and Public Relations while taking over as Director of Medical Education. W Malemnganba Chenglei shifts to Water Resources, though he keeps his finance duties. Somorjit Salam swaps Water Resources for Information Technology and Relief and Disaster Management.

Rangitabali Waikhom jumps from the Staff Selection Commission to handle Tourism and Cooperation. L Bikram moves to Special Secretary for Department of Personnel. Khumanthem Diana keeps her spot as Director of Transport and adds Director of Tourism to her list. The government stated: "The changes were made in the public interest and would remain in force until further orders."
