Imphal: The Manipur Cabinet approved a pay bump for retired journalists and their families under the state pension scheme on October 1. Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh led the meeting at the Cabinet Hall in Mantripukhri. Officials also greenlit a one-time amnesty for subscribers who stopped making payments. This allows defaulters to keep their membership active. The Chief Minister posted about the changes on Facebook that same day.
Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen joined via video link. Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam and Chief Secretary Rajeev Singh Thakur attended the meeting alongside various administrative secretaries. The state aims to bolster welfare for working journalists through these updates.
Separately, four Manipur Civil Service officers recently stepped into the Indian Administrative Service. These officials include A. Romita Devi, K. Bono Singh, Kh. Lalmani Singh, and H. Balkrisna Singh. Khemchand Singh met the group at his Secretariat to mark their career milestones. He congratulated the officers on their promotion and, "wished them success in their new roles in public service."
The promoted group holds key positions across the government. Romita Devi serves at CAF&PD and SCERT. Bono Singh oversees Works and School Education. Lalmani Singh works at the Manipur Public Service Commission. Balkrisna Singh manages Home, Relief and Disaster Management, plus the Loktak Development Authority.
