Manipur Regional Parties Unite to Form New Coordination Committee

Imphal: Manipur's regional political parties joined forces to launch the Manipur Regional Political Parties Co-ordinating Committee. The group met at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal to establish a platform for unified action on state matters. They moved fast. The second Consultative Meeting of Regional Political Parties of Manipur, hosted by the Manipur Alliance for Economic and Financial Reforms, paved the way for this pact.

The coalition includes the People’s Democratic Alliance, the People’s Political Party, and the Manipur Democratic People’s Front as full members. The Good Governance Party joins as an associate member. Each group sends two representatives to the committee. MAMEF Advisor and senior advocate Khaidem Mani took the role of Chairperson, while Oinam Premdas serves as the group's Convenor.

The committee plans to write a Common Minimum Programme. This document will outline shared goals for politics, social welfare, and economic growth. They aim to work through consensus. Khaidem Mani said, "The meeting brought together representatives of the People’s Democratic Alliance, People’s Political Party, Manipur Democratic People’s Front and Good Governance Party, along with unaffiliated individuals and MAMEF members." Despite the new alliance, every party keeps its own name and autonomy.
