Imphal: Imphal West commandos and security forces caught an alleged member of the National Socialist Council of Nagalim during a Friday raid. The operation took place at Chingmeirong Tangkhul Avenue within the jurisdiction of the Lamphel police station. Officials identified the suspect as 42-year-old MS Chekneichung Chiru, also known as Achung Chiru, from Bungte Chiru in Kangpokpi district.

Officers seized Rs 1.5 lakh in cash, a communication device, and various incriminating documents from the man. He remains in police custody while legal proceedings move forward. Security sources stated that these intensified operations aim to shut down extortion networks targeting local businesses, highway transport operators, and professionals.

Authorities expressed concern about individuals tied to ceasefire groups breaking the law. "The arrested individual remains in police custody as further legal proceedings are initiated," officials confirmed. Security forces are continuing search and combing operations throughout Manipur to recover illegal arms and stop future violence.
