Imphal: The Kuki Women Organisation for Human Rights (KWOHR) is demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the abduction, sexual assault, and murder of a woman in Kamjong district. The district sits directly on the Myanmar border. The organisation issued a statement from Churachandpur district pointing the finger at NSCN-IM cadres for the attack.

The victim's body was found naked and severely mutilated. KWOHR officials noted the remains showed signs of extreme physical and sexual violence. The group branded the killing a deliberate act of brutality. It claimed the crime shows a total disregard for human life and moral values. The organisation stated, "The desecration of a woman's body violated the dignity of all women and humanity."

Rights advocates claim Kuki women face constant danger in regions held by the NSCN-IM. These perpetrators often avoid punishment. The group wants the Indian government and the Manipur state government to boost security for Kuki villages in both Kamjong and Ukhrul districts. They also demanded immediate rehabilitation and compensation for the victim's family.

KWOHR requested that civil society groups, human rights bodies, and women's commissions back the family during this time. The organisation finished by offering condolences while warning that silence is not acceptance. They expect officials to arrest those responsible and ensure they face justice.
