Woman Killed During Protest in Manipur's Chassad Village

Imphal: A woman died after being shot during a protest in Chassad village on Friday night. Tension grips the area. Domkhonei Touthang was reportedly among a group of people demonstrating against the arrest and detention of several village volunteers when the firing occurred around 9 pm.

She suffered fatal wounds during the confrontation. She died at 9.40 pm. The victim is survived by her husband, Lallenmang Touthang, and their five children. Officials have yet to provide a statement regarding the specific circumstances of the shooting or the identity of the shooter.

The village remains on edge. The current situation in the Kamjong district is described as "tense following the incident." Local authorities are still working to piece together the exact sequence of events that led to the violence.
