Imphal: Women in Thoubal district staged a sit-in protest on August 30 to condemn a grenade attack on the Sorojini Oil Pump. The demonstration centered in Khangabok, where participants demanded that police catch the perpetrators immediately. Protesters carried signs calling the blast an act of cowardice.

Unidentified attackers hurled a hand grenade into the fuel station at 6.20 pm on Saturday. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the suspects arrive in a four-wheeler from the direction of Wangjing before they fled the scene. A protest leader challenged the attackers to explain why they targeted a civilian business and urged armed groups to keep locals out of their crosshairs.

The blast caused no injuries. However, the explosion fractured a concrete wall and damaged a fuel tanker parked on the property. One protester stated: "Attacking innocents is an ultimate act of cowardice." Police have opened a formal case and are currently tracking the vehicle used in the assault to identify the suspects. The motive behind the strike remains unknown.
