Imphal: Gunfire erupted between Molnoi and Phaikoh in Manipur’s Kamjong district on October 15. The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) reported that four people on two motorcycles were ambushed between 4 pm and 5 pm. Hatneikim Haokip, wife of Jangkhongam Haokip, died at the scene. Her husband survived the attack despite sustaining bullet injuries.

Two other civilians, D. Paokhothang Haokip and his wife, Boishi Haokip, remain missing. The group was traveling from Chassad village to Phaikoh to buy essential commodities when militants struck. Police have yet to release an official statement regarding the violence.

The Kuki Inpi Manipur organization publicly blamed the NSCN (IM) for the assault. In a press statement, the group urged authorities to act. "The authorities must take concrete measures to prevent further violence and ensure the protection of civilians in the region," the organization stated. KIM is now demanding that state and Central governments launch an operation to find the missing pair and capture the attackers.
