Imphal: The Kuki CSO Working Committee of Kamjong district is calling out alleged land encroachment. They claim outsiders are building houses on ancestral property without permission. The dispute centers on a site known as Pilong.

Kuki leaders insist the area belongs to Choro Kuki village. They state the Kuki community held this ground for generations. They argue the name changed to Pilong during the Kuki-Naga conflict in the 1990s. Tensions are high. The committee claims the settlement lacks any government recognition. They allege the site does not appear in a single Kamjong district gazette notification and only popped up in recent years.

"The committee reiterated the Kuki community's claim over Choro Kuki village and urged the authorities to examine the land dispute and take appropriate steps to protect the rights of the parties concerned."

The group wants a full investigation into the unauthorized construction. They cited criminal trespass laws to back their push for a halt to all building work. The committee reports the encroachment has caused significant mental distress, safety risks, and inconvenience for local landholders. Authorities have yet to verify these claims.
