Kohima: The NPF Youth Wing, Chümoukedima Division, partnered with the local Chief Medical Officer to host a medical camp. The event provided free screenings, health insurance registration, and medical counseling. It remains part of a statewide drive running from August 1 to 10. Officials want citizens to use these free government services.
District Programme Officer Dr. H. Mlato Shikhu spoke on the national goal to wipe out tuberculosis by 2030. The camp featured digital X-rays and specialized testing for TB, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, and HIV. Patients in need also received nutritional food baskets provided by local NGOs. The turnout was lower than expected, with only 21 people screened during the event.
District Programme Officer for Non-Communicable Diseases, Dr. Lhishelo Tsuhah, warned that many health issues hide in plain sight. He said, "Citizens, especially those above 30 years, to undergo regular screening for hypertension, diabetes and lifestyle-related illnesses, stressing that many NCDs develop silently." Officials urged attendees to secure Ayushman Bharat Health Account IDs to simplify future medical visits.
Akumjungshi, the District Programme Coordinator, noted that 12 beneficiary cards were generated and 19 registrations were completed on-site. The department is pushing a 100-day campaign to enroll students across three districts. Zuchumo Mozhui, NPF Youth Wing president, announced that another camp will hit the Supermarket area in Dimapur this Saturday. Workers will provide on-the-spot insurance card generation.
