Kohima: A free health camp reached Wokha Village on July 18. The Wokha Village Eloe Ekhung teamed up with the Nagaland Health and Family Welfare Department to set up shop at PM SHRI Government High School. It brought essential care to the doorstep of locals who struggle to reach distant health centers.
Doctors ran a wide gauntlet of tests. They handled general check-ups, antenatal care, blood sugar monitoring, and blood pressure screenings. The team provided eye exams, HIV testing, and screenings for malaria and tuberculosis. They also handed out free medicine and signed people up for Chief Minister Health Insurance Scheme cards.
The roster of specialists was deep. Experts in orthopaedics, gynaecology, obstetrics, dermatology, venereology, surgery, and psychiatry worked the lines. They joined forces with AYUSH and Mobile Medical Unit officers. Staff from the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, NCD, NLEP, DAPCU, and NTEP also showed up to assist.
Wokha Village Head GB Vandan Erui opened the event by thanking the Chief Medical Officer for the logistical support. He noted that such efforts matter. "Such initiatives play a vital role in bringing healthcare services directly to the people," Erui said. Village president Elonbeni Tungoe noted the collaboration aims to bridge the gap for those lacking facility access.
