Kohima: Dr. Tseilhoutuo Rhutso, the MLA for the 9 Kohima Town Assembly Constituency, is pressing ahead with public service work. He admits a lack of an assigned government portfolio creates hurdles. It limits how he addresses local needs. Still, he pushes forward. "I have my concern to help the people in various ways," he stated during a Saturday health camp.
He hosted the event at New Reserve Panchayat Hall in Ward 16. The medical team provided a wide net of services. Doctors performed blood tests, dental checkups, ultrasound scans, and ENT screenings. They also tracked blood pressure and sugar levels for attendees. For elderly or bedridden patients, the team brought care directly to their homes.
Rhutso leans on support from Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to reach different tribal communities. He already helped run camps at 25 spots across Nagaland using the Chief Minister’s Mobile Operation Theatre. He plans to take these programs into more Kohima wards soon. He remains focused on keeping the trust of his voters.
Experts joined the effort to broaden the medical scope. Vincent Belho of the Family Planning Association of India, Nagaland State Branch, urged locals to prioritize cervical cancer screenings and HPV vaccines. He also pushed for HIV prevention via Pre Exposure Prophylaxis. Thepfuneisa Sileo chaired the day, with Rev. Tho o Neihu providing blessings. Representatives from the Lerie Chazou Youth and New Reserve Youth Organization spoke at the event, while Petevilie Livi delivered the final thanks.
