Kohima: A regional health delegation wrapped up a five-day review of health programs in Kohima on August 22. Dr. Jenny Ningombam, Regional Director of the RoHFW in Imphal, led the team through the district. They arrived August 18. Accompanying Ningombam were Medical Officer Dr. Khansem Tallanao and Lab Assistant Mahipal Meena.
The group inspected five specific national initiatives: the National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme, the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, the Universal Immunization Programme, and the National Oral Health Programme. The auditors grilled district officials on service delivery, case management, reporting, and laboratory operations.
The team hit the ground. They visited local health facilities and various field sites to see how the work functions outside the office. These checks aimed to expose gaps in current strategies. Ningombam noted that success requires consistent effort from staff on the ground. She stressed the need to fix service issues and maintain strict reporting schedules.
"Ningombam emphasised the need to strengthen surveillance, ensure quality health services, maintain timely reporting and effective monitoring, and address identified gaps to improve health outcomes in the district." The visitors praised local health workers for their dedication. They urged the district team to keep pushing for better results across all health sectors.
