Guwahati: Janti Bordoloi Patgiri serves the people of Morigaon. She works as an ASHA supervisor at the Lahorighat Block Primary Health Centre. Her mission is simple. She fights the stigma surrounding HIV and brings patients back to the clinic. She grew up in Nij Geruwa village. She faced tragedy when her husband died during a dark time in her life. She raised her daughter alone. She chose to help others instead of folding under the weight of grief.
Her work covers more than just HIV education. She leads campaigns on maternal health, child welfare, and family planning. She tracks down pregnant women to ensure they get safe childbirth care. Her persistence helps patients stay on their treatment plans. The Morigaon district administration noticed her results. On August 15, during the 80th Independence Day festivities, Deputy Commissioner Srishti Singh handed her a certificate of appreciation.
Janti credits her success to mentors. She specifically thanked Morigaon District Tuberculosis Officer Dr. Amar Jyoti Deka for his role in her career. She says, "I am grateful to Dr. Amar Jyoti Deka for his support, encouragement and compassionate guidance." Her career proves that individual grit can change a community. She remains committed to her neighbors and the health of her district.
