Guwahati: The Veer Lachit Sena Morigaon committee wants answers. They are demanding a full investigation into a resident who allegedly threatened Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on social media. The incident reportedly happened on August 15 in Bhuragaon. The suspect supposedly shouted Pakistan Zindabad slogans during Independence Day.
Dipmoni Hira, the local secretary for the Sena, lashed out at the behavior. He called the act a serious offense. "Issuing an alleged death threat against the Chief Minister and raising slogans in support of a hostile country on Independence Day amounted to a serious offence," Hira said. He claims the incident highlights failures in local law and order.
Locals feel embarrassed. The organization claims Bhuragaon is becoming a dangerous hub for crime, citing past issues with cybercrime in the area. Now, the group is pushing the Director General of Police and the Chief Minister to step in. They want the people responsible identified and punished immediately. Independent sources have not verified these claims.

Police arrested Abdul Mutaleb, a tailor from Bhuragaon, in connection with the threats. A court remanded him to five days of police custody on Sunday to allow investigators to track the digital trail and determine the motive behind the posts. Mutaleb denies the allegations, claiming someone hijacked his photograph to create a fake Facebook account to frame him.
A second, unrelated threat has surfaced in Nagaon district. Juria police are investigating a man named Mubarak Ali after an account bearing his name posted a comment offering to kill the Chief Minister for 2 crore rupees. Local residents claim Ali has lived in Kerala for the past two years and describe him as a habitual thief with little formal education. Police have not yet verified the authenticity of the account or confirmed if Ali is responsible for the post.
