Guwahati: Assam Minister Kaushik Rai toured Silchar Medical College and Hospital on July 17. He demanded better care. The minister inspected wards and assessed facilities, cleanliness, and overall hospital performance. He wants faster resolution of public grievances and improved sanitation.

Rai chaired a review meeting with hospital authorities and senior officials after the tour. They discussed plans to maintain stocks of medicines and equipment. They also looked at ways to fix long-standing infrastructure problems. The meeting included Cachar Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar Gupta and Superintendent of Police Sanjib Saikia.

Principal Dr. Bhaskar Gupta attended the review alongside Health Department staff. He noted the goal is to upgrade institutional services. "The meeting reviewed the existing medical services, infrastructure and administrative functioning of the hospital. Several longstanding issues and challenges were also discussed, and steps to address them at the earliest were deliberated upon," he said.

Dr. Gupta remains optimistic about the facility's future. He expects state support will turn the college into a modern, efficient, and patient-friendly institution. Officials are now focusing on these development plans to ensure timely treatment for all patients.
