Guwahati: Barpeta Medical College and Hospital joined forces with the Kalgachia Block Primary Health Centre on Wednesday. They held a convergence meeting to fix gaps in regional medical care. The District Commissioner of Barpeta ordered the session to streamline how facilities handle patients.

Key medical staff attended the meeting. Attendees included Prof. Dr. Rukeiya Begum from the BMCH Paediatrics department, O&G specialist Dr. Kankan Talukdar, Joint DHS Dr. Bhupen Chandra Bora, and Assistant Commissioner Murchana Malakar. They focused on strengthening referral and back-referral links for patients who need specialist treatment. The group demanded better communication between doctors at both sites to ensure patients do not fall through the cracks.

Maternal and child health took center stage. The team discussed ways to improve antenatal services, institutional deliveries, and the tracking of high-risk pregnancies. They mapped out plans for faster emergency referrals. Better documentation and patient tracking will keep the system moving. The officials vowed to keep talking. They committed to maintaining "regular coordination between the two healthcare facilities and work towards providing accessible, timely and quality healthcare services to the community."
