Barpeta Officials Push to Bolster Rural Healthcare in Assam

Guwahati: Officials gathered at the Mandia Block Primary Health Centre on August 29 to overhaul local medical services. They audited health indicators and checked the progress of priority programs across the block. The meeting aimed to plug gaps in care for isolated residents.

District Commissioner Nabadeep Pathak led the session. He joined Additional District Commissioner Dimpi Gogoi, Joint Director of Health Services Dr. Bhupen Chandra Bora, and Assistant Commissioner Murchana Malakar. Staff from the DPMU and NHM Barpeta also attended, alongside Community Health Officers and Auxiliary Nurse Midwives.

Teams focused heavily on the Char and riverine regions. These areas present major logistical hurdles for basic care. Pathak pushed for better coordination between administrators and field staff to sharpen results. He stated, "District Commissioner Nabadeep Pathak stressed the importance of coordinated efforts among health officials and frontline workers to improve the reach and quality of healthcare services, particularly in the Char areas."

Frontline workers must step up. They need to boost outreach, tighten beneficiary follow-ups, and keep better records. Pathak later inspected the Mandia Model Hospital. He toured the wards and quizzed staff on existing facilities to ensure the site meets the needs of the local population.
