Nursery Student Killed in Assam E-Rickshaw Crash

Guwahati: A nursery student died instantly today when an e-rickshaw flipped near Mandia Regional College in Assam. The young girl, Maitri Pal, was walking home with her mother when the vehicle lost control and pinned her to the ground. Maitri attended the Ankur nursery class at Mandia Oriental Jatiya Vidyalaya and lived in the local area with her father, Gaur Chandra Pal.

The e-rickshaw, registration number AS 15 GR 2195, was transporting several other schoolchildren when it tipped over. Mandia Police arrived at the scene shortly after the crash to secure the area and recover the body. The girl's body was sent to Barpeta Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination.

Medics rushed the injured students to Mandia Model Hospital for immediate care. Several children suffered severe trauma in the wreckage. Hospital staff referred those in critical condition to Barpeta Medical College and Hospital for advanced treatment. Authorities stated: "The incident has triggered grief in the Mandia area, with the death of the young student raising concerns over the safety of children travelling on local roads."
