Barpeta Health Officials Push for Tighter Hospital Coordination

Guwahati: Barpeta District Commissioner led a strategy session at the Circuit House to tighten links between Barpeta Medical College and Hospital and the District Health Society. The session targeted gaps in care delivery and communication failures. Officials demanded better data sharing and tighter referral chains between grassroots clinics and the medical college.

The group zeroed in on maternal and child health. They ordered staff to prioritize the early detection of high-risk pregnancies and ensure those patients reach advanced facilities without delay. Addressing the assembly, the District Commissioner noted: "The District Commissioner emphasised collective efforts among health institutions and departments to strengthen the district healthcare system and ensure that government health services reach a larger section of the population."

Tuberculosis remains a major hurdle. The committee reviewed the National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme to boost case finding and keep patients on their meds. SDM and HOs must now coordinate closely with block managers to stop people from falling through the cracks. They want a streamlined system where information flows fast to cut down on mortality rates across the region.
