Nagaland Roundup: Inspections, College Gifts, and Local Races

Kohima: Atoizu officials cracked down on local shops on August 18. A team featuring the District Administration, Atoizu Town Council, and local police hunted for expired goods. They checked trade licenses and hygiene standards. The sweep pulled a massive haul of spoiled food from shelves. They hauled the junk to a dump site and burned it. No one is eating that now.

Over at St Joseph’s College in Jakhama, alumni showed up with gifts on August 18. The association donated stainless steel benches and queue manager stands. President Thepfuvizo Vizo called the gear a small token of love. Principal Dr Fr George Keduolhou Angami accepted the donation. He is a 1988 alum himself. He told the crowd, "It is good to return with hearts of gratitude and give back to the college in the form of a widow’s mite."

Meanwhile, the Naga People’s Front Mon Youth Wing hit the pavement. They hosted the One Nagaland Run-5K in Mon district on August 18. Exactly 102 runners showed up to compete. Manbo Konyak took first in the men’s race, followed by Wangtho C. Wangsa and Longpa. Wangya grabbed the top spot for women, with Ngongun and Phamnyu taking second and third. Winners now head to the State Grand Finale on August 22. That race happens at the Regional Centre for Sporting Excellence in Sovima.
