Kohima: Minister for Rural Development and SIRD, Metsübo Jamir, pushed NPF youth leaders to pursue self-reliance and active grassroots involvement. Jamir spoke at the Naga People’s Front Youth Wing Mokokchung Division Leadership Meet 2026 on August 14. He warned that party success depends on young people taking initiative instead of waiting on others. Leadership requires concrete action. "Youths should not merely observe how others lead; they should show the way through their own leadership," Jamir told the crowd.
The event centered on the theme, Empowering Youth Voices for a Transformative Future. Imnatiba, former MLA and CEC member, served as the theme speaker. He urged the youth to abandon village-centric thinking in favor of a collective vision for all Nagas. Jamir clarified that the NPF remains an independent party despite the current opposition-less government in Nagaland. He believes the unity of 60 legislators could push peace and a solution to the Naga political issue.
Party workers need to be the eyes of the organization. They must spot weaknesses and communicate them up the chain of command. Jamir argued that wisdom and public acceptance define a leader, not age or status. The meeting included an oath-taking ceremony for 22 youth leaders representing 10 constituencies for the 2025-2026 tenure. Repameren Yaden, President of the NPF Mokokchung Division, swore them in. The day concluded with a media-awareness session where advocate Toshi O. Longkumer discussed cyber laws and political communication.
