Kohima: The search for Miss Mokokchung 2026 ends this Thursday. Eleven contestants will take the stage at the Town Hall in Mokokchung at 6 pm on August 14. Forerunners Mokokchung organized the event under the Beauty and Aesthetic Society of Nagaland. The winner earns a direct entry into the Miss Nagaland competition, while the first and second runners-up gain audition eligibility.
Contestants range from 18 to 22 years old. They have been training through grooming sessions led by show director Neitho Khamo of Talent Foresight. The final event features three rounds: traditional attire and introduction, dance, and evening wear. Shillong-based designer HM provided the official outfits. Local designer Manen Jamir handled the cocktail round attire. Musical performances feature Abdon Mech, Shau Evans, Elizabeth King, and Ningdangri and friends, with Sariwar opening the show.
Awards extend beyond the main crown. Contenders will vie for titles like Miss Talented, Miss Runway, and Queen of Hearts. The Queen of Hearts winner relies on public social media votes. A pre-event talent round held August 3 at Urban Hub Café remains unannounced until the finale. Patron Sashinungla Nathan noted the group revived the pageant last year after a three-year hiatus. Nathan stated, "The organisation wants to create a platform through which young women can speak on social issues and contribute to the community."
Reigning winner Bendangienla credited the platform for her personal growth. She finished as the first runner-up at the state level last year. Khamo urged the public to support these women. He noted participants build skills for careers in aviation and beauty. Tickets cost Rs 300 for general entry, Rs 2,000 for three-person donor passes, and Rs 5,000 for VIP seats. Find them at the venue or Social Garden Restaurant.
