Kohima: Mokokchung Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma formed a Board of Administrators to manage the Principal Market Yard. The move follows the Nagaland Agricultural Produce and Livestock Marketing Act of 2020. Officials needed oversight. This interim body holds power until the government establishes a permanent Market Committee.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Mokokchung serves as the convenor and chief administrator. District Agriculture Officer Dr. Lanunochetla acts as the co-convenor. The board also includes I Panger Longkumer, Temjenmenla, Dr. Tiachuba Jamir, T. Tatong Longchar, and Asang Aier. Other listed members are Kilangtoshi, Suputoshi, Akangmeren, L Yanger, Nukshi I Ozukum, Bendangnukshi Walling, Nathan Ozukum, Mapuakam Kichu, Imrongkumba, Tiarenla, and Ojintsungba.
The board manages all marketing activities and local assets. They keep the books. The group must submit monthly and quarterly progress reports to the Deputy Commissioner. As the order states, the board is "vested with all powers and duties of the First Market Committee under the Act," including the mandate to recommend infrastructure improvements for agricultural trade.
