Kohima: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav visited Mokokchung on Thursday to audit local development schemes. He chaired a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office alongside Deputy Commissioner Ajit Kumar Verma, the Senior Superintendent of Police, and various department heads. The district, founded in 1889, holds a deep history of education and leadership. The Governor reminded the room that the area is known as the "Land of Pioneers."
Yadav demanded a move away from simple scheme-based work. He wants an outcome-based model instead. Officials must now focus on regular field inspections and clear accountability for any project delays. He directed the Agriculture, Tourism, and Youth Development departments to stop working in silos and operate as a unified team.
Economic growth remains a primary goal. The Governor tasked departments with improving agricultural productivity, branding, and market access for farmers and artisans. He also pushed for sustainable tourism to boost local jobs. Beyond the fields, he wants youth initiatives centered on digital literacy, entrepreneurship, and practical job skills. Officials must now evaluate their progress by asking: What have we achieved? What remains pending? And what specific action should be taken?
The review included departmental reports from Agriculture, Medical, PWD, Land Resources, and the District Planning Officer for ICDS. Advisor for Water Resources Tongpang Ozukum spoke at the event, while the district profile was presented by EAC Er Neithozo Theunuo. ADC Atsungba Walling closed the session with a vote of thanks.
