Kohima: Nagaland districts are ramping up for Reform Utsav, a nationwide campaign designed to pull citizen feedback into government operations. Meetings held September 15 in Mon, Tseminyu, Zunheboto, and Peren set the stage for the time-bound initiative. The effort aims to increase transparency, innovation, and responsiveness in public service.
The campaign cycle starts October 2 with Jan Manthan, focusing on discovery. This leads into Vimarsh for deliberation, Jan Samadhan for delivery, and ends December 25 to 27 with Sankalp Sidhi. Officials plan to use social media, radio, and community networks to reach blocks, villages, and urban local bodies.
In Peren, State Nodal Officer Arenla Jamir identified key priorities, including healthcare, education, roads, and power. Jamir stressed the need to separate personal complaints from wider policy fixes. She noted, "The campaign seeks citizen inputs on difficulties in accessing government services and ways to make processes simpler and more effective."
Mon District Planning and Development Board members met the same day at the DC’s Conference Hall. Deputy Commissioner Wennyei Konyak urged members to support the campaign while briefing them on the PM RAHAT Scheme. The board also recommended upgrading GPS Papong to a Middle School and changing Wangka School’s name to Cornerstone High School in Aboi. They approved registration for the Chingtan Community Enterprise and Livelihood Society and the Goodwill Angjong Welfare Society. Additionally, Mon officials discussed preparations for the town's upcoming Platinum Jubilee.
Zunheboto officials, led by Secretary Zarenthung Ezung, proposed a District Coordination Committee and sub-divisional groups. Tseminyu Deputy Commissioner Japheth Woch encouraged residents to submit ideas through the Reform Utsav portal. Departments will sort all incoming suggestions into quick-win or medium-term reforms before building official implementation roadmaps.
