Phek District Launches Reform Utsav to Boost Grassroots Development

Kohima: Middle Khomi hosted the launch of Reform Utsav this past Friday. The event combined the People’s Plan Campaign, known as Sabki Yojana, Sabka Vikas, to bridge the gap between government departments and local residents. Phek Deputy Commissioner Rhosietho Ngouri attended as the special guest alongside Project Director of DRDA Phek, Zhoi Lohe. EAC Phek Mechietsho Koza chaired the meeting at the Village Council Hall.

The program aims to put development planning directly in the hands of the community. Pastor Nukuyi Tenyi started the day with an invocation before APO Vekhrolo Koza delivered the welcome address. Representatives from numerous agencies presented their work. Departments included Agriculture, Horticulture, DRDA, the Chief Medical Office, PHED, Power, Welfare, ICDS, Land Records, and ITI Phek.

These officials explained welfare schemes, infrastructure projects, and skill development opportunities. They clarified how residents can qualify for and access these essential services. The event forced a direct dialogue between the public and the state. Village Council members and local representatives held an interactive session to highlight their specific priorities. Officials and residents then worked together to align departmental goals with village needs.

The day wrapped up with a tree plantation drive led by Ngouri. The gesture highlighted a shared goal for long-term growth. Organizers hope the event ensures that future projects truly match what citizens want. As the event noted, the initiative serves as a “significant effort to strengthen people’s participation, departmental convergence and grassroots-level development planning.”
