Imphal: Villages across Manipur’s Kakching district held special Gram Sabhas on October 2. The meetings synced with Gandhi Jayanti to launch the Reform Utsav and the People’s Plan Campaign 2026-27. Local leaders and residents gathered to build development plans for the 2027-28 fiscal year.

Sessions hit every corner of the district. The Kakching Community Development Block hosted meetings at Irengband, Pallel, Wabagai, Keirak, Hayel Hangoon, Maibam Uchiwa, and Irong Chesaba. Meanwhile, the Langmeidong CD Block covered Chairel, Langmeidong, Pangantabi, Serou, Wangoo, Sekmaijin, Arong Nongmaikhong, Hiyanglam, Mayeng Lamjao, and Waikhong.

Officials used the Panchayat Advancement Index 2.0 to spot development gaps. The theme, “Sabki Yojana, Sabka Vikas,” guided the strategy. Residents reviewed central reforms and screened audio-visual materials to better understand public welfare offerings.

The Sabhas reached a major milestone. Every village passed a formal resolution to become child-marriage-free. Data from MSRLM Self-Help Groups and local federations backed the move. “The declarations were supported by data from MSRLM Self-Help Groups and federations and will be included in the upcoming GPDPs,” officials stated.

The planning session did not stop there. Attendees hammered out details for the Village Poverty Reduction Plan, the Viksit Gram Panchayat Plan, and new solid waste management strategies. Representatives from various line departments laid out the options for the community.
