Kohima: ATMA Mokokchung held a one-day Farm School session in Mongsenyimti village. The program focused on sustainable Eri silkworm rearing and kharif crop cultivation. BTM Aolemla Kichu opened the day with a talk on the goals of farm schools. She set the stage for the practical training.
Resource person Nungshiyangla led the silkworm segment. She is a successful farmer known for her expertise. She shared tips on how to manage host plants, keep diseases in check, and handle rearing duties. The team ran demonstrations on using bleaching powder to disinfect work areas. They also showed farmers how to arrange shelves to stop overcrowding and prevent the spread of disease.
ATM Abenla B. Jamir took over for the second half of the event. She led a capacity building workshop for the Telongjem food security group. The group focused on improving kharif crop yields. In total, 20 people attended the training sessions. The event provided the attendees with actionable skills for their local plots.
