Police Seize Weapons Cache and Arrest Two in Mokokchung

Kohima: Mokokchung police intercepted a massive arms haul during a routine traffic stop. Officers pulled over a Honda Amaze, registration number AS-07C-8639, at the Tzusapang sector around 1.40 am on July 30. The vehicle was moving from Shamator via Chari junction toward Dimapur. Two men are now in custody.

Police found two country-made AK rifles with three magazines, three country-made .32 pistols with three magazines, and one live .32 caliber round inside the car. They cuffed 42-year-old Khumkiumong Yimkhiung at the scene. Investigations led officers to a second suspect, Kone Mary of Kohima, who was arrested on August 3.

A spokesperson for the department confirmed the sweep. "A criminal case has been registered at Police Station-I, Mokokchung, and further investigation into the matter is underway," the Assistant Superintendent of Police and PRO stated. Authorities are currently digging into the origins and intended destination of the weaponry.
