Kohima: The Kohima District Football Association officially kicked off the 1st Atuo Mezhur Sekhose Super League 2026 today. The launch and slot allotment took place at 2K Hotel in Kohima. Organizers chose the theme Honouring the Legacy to remember Atuo Mezhur Sekhose and his impact on state football. The league runs from August 12 to 29 at Indira Gandhi Stadium.
Five teams will compete for the title. These include Mez and Co, Sechu Zubza FC, Tsutuonuomia Youth Organization, Nurturing Youngsters FC, and Vanguard Academy. Neidilhoulie Keditsu, Director of Economics and Statistics for the Nagaland government, addressed the crowd. He called the event a landmark initiative for the district. Keditsu told the attendees, "The league should inspire a new generation of footballers who can compete at national and international levels."
The KDFA organized the event under the Nagaland Football Association with support from the Department of Youth Resources and Sports. Medolenuo Loucu chaired the ceremony. Rev Sentisashi Aier offered the invocation. Viliebiezo Ligietsu handled the welcome address, and Technical Director Kevilebei Zashumo presented the league preamble. The tournament aims to build a stronger football ecosystem and give young players a clear path to high-level competition.
