Kohima: Football returns to Kohima this November. The 26th NSF Martyrs’ Memorial Trophy starts on November 13 and runs through December 3. The Angami Students’ Union hosts the event under the Naga Students’ Federation, supported by the Nagaland Olympic Association and the Hornbill Festival 2026. Organisers announced the schedule at the ASU office in Kohima.
Registration is open now. Teams must sign up by October 24 on a first-come, first-served basis. Forms cost Rs 300, and the entry fee is Rs 7,000. Fixtures will be drawn on November 2. The event expects clubs from across Nagaland and neighboring northeastern states. Officials set a Rs 12 lakh tender for ground management and hospitality services.
The tournament offers a total prize purse of Rs 8.80 lakh. The champion claims Rs 3.50 lakh, while the runners-up get Rs 2 lakh. Losing semi-finalists earn Rs 60,000 each, and four quarter-finalists receive Rs 30,000 apiece. Organisers will also hand out six individual prizes worth Rs 10,000 each, plus a Rs 30,000 award for the Player of the Tournament. Fans can win prizes through lucky draws during the final stages.
Before the kick-off, the ASU hosts a cultural fiesta on September 21. The event theme is "Together in Culture, Together in Harmony." This gathering focuses on tribal unity. Nagaland’s Chief Minister plans to attend as the chief guest. ASU officials believe these efforts promote deeper solidarity among Naga people, stating the programme will highlight the message that "Nagas remain united despite differences and divisions."
