Shillong: NEHU Assistant Professor Dr. Alok Singh earned the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Award on September 19. He teaches Hindi at the university’s Shillong campus. The Shillong unit of the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Foundation hosted the event. They held the ceremony to mark the 11th death anniversary of the former President and scientist.
Singh won the honor for his dedication to literature and education. He works to boost Hindi language usage across Meghalaya and the broader Northeast. The professor also connects Indian languages through various cultural and educational platforms. He frequently speaks on youth consciousness, national integration, and the heritage of Northeast India.
During the event, Singh spoke about the impact of the late leader. He credited the former President for his focus on intellectual growth. "Singh reflected on Kalam’s ideas and vision, highlighting the importance of education, knowledge, literature and creative thinking in shaping young minds." Participants used the afternoon to pay tribute to Kalam and his role in nation-building and science.
