Kohima: Police recovered an unidentified male body from an abandoned house in Ward-1, Medziphema, on July 20. Medziphema Police Station personnel arrived at the scene around 12:30 pm. Authorities suspect the man was a non-Naga between 45 and 50 years old. They believe illness and starvation caused the death. The body is now at the District Hospital Dimapur morgue awaiting post-mortem results. Anyone with information should contact the Medziphema station at 7085055023.
Elsewhere, the Central Minority Wing hosts its yearly meeting and orientation on July 22 at 2:00 pm. The event takes place at the Dimapur Division Office conference hall. General Secretary Roshan B K expects representatives from Dimapur and Chümoukedima divisions to attend. The goal is to tighten coordination between units.
Meanwhile, the Kohima Municipal Council issued a mandate for local business owners. Shops and buildings facing the road must be painted or whitewashed by August 10. The KMC stated the order follows recent home department meetings, noting, "In view of the forthcoming celebration of 80th Independence Day 2026."
Naga National Council and Federal Government of Nagaland leaders gather for a monthly meeting on July 27. The session starts at 10:00 am at the Transit Peace Camp in Kohima. FGN Rali Wali Kilonser Yirei Lungleng requested attendance from regional authorities, women and youth federation leaders, and Naga Army officers.
Finally, Phek Government College hosted a fire safety seminar on July 17. Disaster Management Committee Convenor Ronald Difoe, Dr. Levinu Sakhrie, and Victor Vero organized the session. ASI Tsuchutu Joe led the training. First-semester students practiced safety drills and learned how to handle emergencies.
