Kohima: The Directorate of Fire and Emergency Services in Nagaland is calling on banks, schools, and business owners to join a massive fire safety campaign. The department aims to tighten public cooperation and boost survival odds inside high-rise buildings and shopping centers. They plan to run mock drills, evacuation exercises, and hands-on firefighting sessions.
The training covers real-world equipment demonstrations, LPG safety, first aid, and fire extinguisher use. Officials will also explain how to operate built-in firefighting systems. The department released a specific schedule for the coming year. Banks are slated for September 2026, and schools follow in October. Markets get their turn in November, while malls and shopping complexes round out the schedule in December 2026.
Interested groups must reach out to their local fire station to sign up. The deadline to apply is August 31, 2026. The department stated, "Where two or more applicants come forward for the same period, it reserves the right to conduct the training at a venue of its choosing." If you miss the window or overlap with another group, fire officials will dictate where the training occurs.
