Nagaland Electoral Roll Revision Lags as Digitization Stalls

Kohima: Nagaland election officials have distributed 345,233 Enumeration Forms as of 4 pm on August 20. This covers 25.44% of the state's 1,357,208 electors. The house-to-house collection period runs from August 16 through September 14. Digitization efforts lag far behind. Only 22,626 forms, or 1.67%, are currently in the system. Voters have submitted just 206 forms online.

ECI Secretary Binod Kumar met with state officials in Kohima to review the Special Intensive Revision 2026. He monitored progress in Kohima district and demanded immediate action from staff. Kumar noted that the project carries a “generational impact” on the state and the country. He pushed for EROs and AEROs to visit the field and resolve mapping issues.

Distribution rates vary wildly across districts. Longleng leads with 78.64%, while Shamator sits at a dismal 1.07%. Other districts like Meluri and Mokokchung show moderate progress at 47.80% and 35.81%, respectively. Dimapur recorded 25.08%.

The Election Department issued a warning to all residents. Voters who refuse or fail to submit a completed form face removal from the draft roll. Booth Level Officers will handle all distribution and collection. Electors should refer to the 2005 E-Roll for Nagaland or use the ECI voter database for past records.
