Kohima: Kohima Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem has called a meeting for August 11, 2026, at 11 am to address the Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls. The session takes place in the Deputy Commissioner's Conference Hall. Local officials, including all Kohima Municipal Council councillors, ward and colony chairmen, and town GBs, must attend this meeting to discuss cleaning up the voter lists by adding eligible citizens and removing ineligible ones.
This initiative follows a recent SVEEP awareness event held August 4 in Mon. District Election Officer Wennyei Konyak led the program, emphasizing that clear rolls are the backbone of the democratic process. Konyak stated, "The SVEEP campaign aims to ensure clean and accurate electoral rolls." He urged residents to educate their peers and take an active role in the upcoming revision.
Assistant Election Officer Lungkube detailed the revision process and led the attendees in the voters' pledge. Additional Deputy Commissioner and SVEEP Nodal Officer PaKon Phom opened the event, which also featured a presentation by Keiom of the Social Welfare Department. Samuel Konyak chaired the proceedings, and Winsha Konyak delivered the vote of thanks as organizers handed out informational pamphlets to the public.
