Naga Students Federation Hosts National Seminar on BEFR 1873 in Dimapur

Kohima: The Naga Students Federation will host a two-day national seminar on the Bengal Eastern Frontier Regulation 1873. The event takes place August 28 and 29 at the Dimapur Town Hall. The Inner Line Regulation Commission is organizing the talks under a theme focused on better awareness and enforcement of the law.

Policy experts want results. Organizers aim to gather recommendations for the Nagaland government. Day one covers academic and ground realities regarding the Inner Line Pass system. The second day switches to legal perspectives.

Supreme Court of India Senior Advocates Prashant Bhushan and Shomona Khanna will speak. They plan to discuss Fundamental Rights, the regulation, and protections for hill tribes. Academic resource persons include Prof Nani Bath from Rajiv Gandhi University, Dr. Lallianchhunga of Mizoram University, Prof Ch Priyoranjan Singh of Manipur University, and Prof Shantanu Chakravarty from Girijananda Chowdhury University.

Over 300 delegates will attend. The guest list includes tribal Hohos, apex Naga organizations, student bodies, NSF units, MLAs, government officials, and bar associations. The federation will document every session. A final report and seminar resolution go to the Nagaland government. The group hopes the public shows up.
