Mon Police Dismantle Major Cross-Border Heroin Network

Kohima: Mon police dismantled a major drug trafficking pipeline this week. Officers seized 800 grams of heroin, known locally as Shan Flower, during what officials call their biggest anti-drug operation to date. The three-day sweep ended August 20.

Police arrested six people, including three women. The operation spanned Mon, Sonari in Assam, and Dimapur. Officers started the crackdown on August 19 by grabbing two men, Nokteih and Pulei, alongside one woman in Mon. Interrogations led them across the state border to Sonari. There, police took Md Taher Hussain into custody.

Hussain reportedly served as a bridge in the supply chain. He planned to drop the consignment to two women waiting in Dimapur. Police caught those two women on August 20. Authorities suspect the drugs originated from across the international border. A police official noted, "The target is to catch the main supplier," while confirming that investigators expect more arrests soon.

The operation involved the Nagaland Director General of Police and the Anti-Narcotics Task Forces of both Assam and Nagaland. Mon police now want the public to help them identify other carriers, financers, and stash house operators. They promised to keep all tips anonymous. Families of addicts can reach out through WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, or X to report dealers.
