Itanagar: Election officials purged 169,459 names from the Arunachal Pradesh electoral roll following a month-long verification sweep. The state now counts 7,18,046 registered voters as of the draft release on Tuesday. This follows a Special Intensive Revision that processed forms from 80.91 per cent of the previous electorate.
Chief Electoral Officer Pawan Kumar Sain confirmed the final count sits at 7,18,046 voters. Records show 25,573 deceased persons and 54,678 untraceable or absent voters were removed. Another 78,980 individuals moved away, while 4,947 duplicates and 5,281 others also faced exclusion.
Sain met with political party reps on Monday to break down the data. The commission uploaded lists of the removed voters to the CEO website for public review. Officials want transparency. “Claims and objections may be submitted between July 21 and August 20,” Sain stated.
Eligible voters left off the draft can still register. Residents turning 18 by July 1, 2026, should use Form 6 for registration. Booth Level Officers and special help desks are now active to assist elderly and disabled citizens with the paperwork. The state will publish the final electoral roll on September 22.
