Meghalaya Electoral Roll Update: Millions of Forms Processed Across Districts

Shillong: Electoral roll updates are moving fast across Meghalaya. Authorities in East Khasi Hills, West Garo Hills, and East Jaintia Hills report significant gains in form distribution and digitisation since the enumeration phase began on June 30.

East Khasi Hills officials have digitised 120,906 forms as of July 17. This covers 21.51 percent of the district's 562,001 electors. Distribution hit 84.96 percent, reaching 477,465 forms. Mawkynrew leads in distribution at 97.09 percent, while Mawsynram tops the digitisation list at 32.72 percent. West Shillong lags behind at 73.22 percent distribution. Field inspections occurred in Mawryngkneng, South Shillong, West Shillong, Nongkrem, Sohiong, and Pynthorumkhrah.

West Garo Hills shows a 93.7 percent coverage rate. The district distributed 372,000 forms to its 396,000 electors, digitising nearly 186,000. District Election Officer Vibhor Aggarwal inspected the work in South Tura. He pushed for completion, stating: "The DEO urged remaining electors to submit their filled forms with supporting documents to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) promptly to ensure no one is left out."

East Jaintia Hills reached 91.03 percent distribution among 104,000 voters. Sutnga Saipung hit 98.14 percent, while Khliehriat sits at 83.99 percent. Digitisation there reached 56.51 percent. Voters needing assistance can contact local BLOs or EROs.
