Aizawl: Lallianzuala Chhangte took home the top prize in Guwahati this Saturday. The Football Players’ Association of India named the Mohun Bagan midfielder the 2026 Indian Player of the Year. Manisha Kalyan earned the Indian Women’s Player of the Year award during the ceremony. The event recognized the best performers across the national game.
East Bengal FC dominated the trophy haul after a stellar 2025-26 campaign. The men’s team secured the ISL champion title, ending a 22-year drought. Meanwhile, the East Bengal FC Women took the IWL Champions award. Chhangte remained a key player for his club and the national team throughout the year.
Other individual awards went to local stars. Shillong Lajong FC’s Phrangki Buam grabbed I-League Player of the Year, and Jamshedpur FC’s Sanan Mohammed K received Young Player of the Year. Sanfida Nongrum took the Women’s Young Player of the Year title. Miguel Figueira Damasceno earned Foreign Player of the Year.
Coaching honors went to Owen Coyle and Anthony Andrews. Coyle took Coach of the Year, while Andrews claimed Women’s Coach of the Year. Savio Medeira picked up the Coach Education Award. Rapid Sports and The Right Weigh shared the Player Performance and Development Award. Reflecting on the talent, the ceremony recognized, "leading performers from across Indian men’s and women’s football."
